MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT LEAVES TWO SERIOUS
May 8th - Eng 5-1, Amb 5-7, Amb 5-9, Amb 2-9, Squad 2 and Medic 201 responded at 2016 to the intersection of Tomstown Road and Creager Road for an auto accident involving a motorcycle. Personnel arrived to find a motorcycle that struck a pickup truck at the driver's door. One patient was airlifted from the scene to a trauma facility by Stat MedEvac 12 (Hagerstown MD). Two other patients were transported to Waynesboro Hospital, with one later airlifted to another facility. Units cleared at 2225.
MORE WORK ON THE CARNIVAL GROUNDS
Paving is now completed on the entire grounds as well as the driveway to the parking areas. Pictured above, right is the inside of the new kitchen facility.
PEDIATRIC SAFETY FAIR AT PSU MONT ALTO
May 3rd - Numerous members were involved with the Pediatric Safety Faire held at the Mont Alto campus of Penn State. Life Lion landed to provide instructions and field questions about it's operations.
AUTO ON IT'S ROOF
May 2nd - "5" was alerted at 0654 to an auto accident on the Rocky Mountain Road, just north of Mont Alto Campus. Personnel arrived to one a single auto on it's roof in the woods, with the occupant self-extricated. BLS transported one victim and the engine cleared at 0712.
AUTO ACCIDENT LEAVES TWO VEHICLES TOTALED
Apr 20th - Eng 5-1, Amb 5-7 and Medic 7 responded at 1317 to 5397 Anthony Highway, just north of Mont Alto for an auto accident with one overturned. Units arrived to confirm dispatch finding one auto on it's roof in a field and the other in the middle of the roadway. One patient was transported and units cleared at 1411.

NEW HOPE SHELTER ON FIRE IN WAYNESBORO
Apr 19th - Eng 5-1 responded at 0604 to 25 South Potomac Street in Waynesboro for a reported building fire at the New Hope Shelter. As Waynesboro's crews were inside investigating a possible malfunctioning light ballast, they noticed fire showing from side "Charlie", apparently starting from the dumpster and had caught the building on fire. Headquarters was requested to alert the "box" assignment. "5"s crew was assigned to assist with roof operations and also a second source to supply Tower 2 if necessary. The engine cleared at 0908 with seven personnel.

ANOTHER HOUSE FIRE IN 2's AREA
Apr 7th - Headquarters alerted Box 2-50-A for a reported dwelling fire on Teffeteller Ln, Quincy Township. First-arriving units found smoke from the roof and chimney area. Eng 5-1 proceeded back the lane, dropping LDH at Gap Rd, while picking up the line dropped from Eng 2-2. E/T 5 dropped their porta-tank also at Gap Rd and dumped their load after E/T 2. Remaining units staged and assisted with manpower due to the long access lane. Units cleared with ten personnel.

WORK DETAIL ON THE FAIRGROUNDS
Mar 8th - Volunteers have been busy on the new buildings in anticipation of the upcoming 2008 carnival. Pictured below on the left is the new gaming building and on the right is the new fishbowl and dime pitch building. In the next few weeks, crews will be erecting rafters for the fishbowl and dime pitch building and begin laying block for the entertainment facility.

Feb 6th - Workers are seen completing the roof on the new bingo facility.
2007 BANQUET WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Jan 26th - The annual fire & E.M.S. members banquet was held Saturday, January 26, 2008 with the following award winners. Firefighter of the Year went to John Tremper. Fire Chief's award went to Joel Oyler. Assistant Fire Chief's award went to Nathan Hawbaker. Appreciation Awards were given to Nathan Hawbaker and Bryan Stevenson. Nathan Hawbaker also received Driver of the Year while Shawn Adolini received an award as outgoing Fire Chief. Junior Member of the Year went to Daniel Shearer. Ambulance Chief's awards went John Tremper and Daniel Shearer. E.M.S. Member of the Year was awarded to Joel Oyler. E.M.S. Driver of the Year was awarded to Roy Monn. Vice President Rich Sleicher received the President's Award. Hilda Monn, Ladies Auxiliary President was presented a gold watch for 44 years of service to the department.
Top fire responders for 2007 were Nathan Hawbaker (268), Ron Yeager (211), J.C. Hartman (200), Joel Oyler (199) and Cody Bumbaugh (162).
Top E.M.S. responders for 2007 were Travis Nichols (175), Tyler Shank (145), Cody Bumbaugh (115), Joel Oyler (90), and Roy Monn (73).
State Representative Todd Rock was on hand to also announce to the department that they should be receiving a $10,000.00 grant very shortly to be used for radio replacement. Thanks very much Representative Rock for supporting fire and emergency medical services!
