Auto Accident
February 4, 2012- At 0151 Engine 5-1 and Ambulance 5-9 and Medic 201 responded to the 8000 BLK of Wayne Road for an auto accident 1 overturned. Company 2 was already dispatched prior to Wayne and Five Forks and Deputy Chief 2A arrived correcting the location. Units found 1 auto that took out about 40 feet of guardrail overturned against a tree and no one around the vehicle. Crews searched the area for about 20 minutes looking for any patients. Command 5 held Engine 5-1 and Squad 2 and EMS for a short period assisting Penn Dot with removal of the guardrail from the road and removal of the vehicle. Pictures coming soon
AWARDS BANQUET EDDIE NUNEMAKER NAMED FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR January 28, 2012- Eddie Nunemaker was named firefighter of the Year for 2011 by Chief Dan Reed at the annual awards ceremony. The award was chosen by the fire chief, deputy fire chief, assistant fire chief and fire captain. Fire chief’s award went to Jamie Reed. Don “bub” Sites received the Deputy Fire Chief’s Award while Assistant Fire Chief Award went to Ron Yeager, and President’s Award went to Gene Miller. Driver of the year went to Darryl Nunemaker. Top Fire responders for 2011 were Ron Yeager (202), J. C. Hartman (197), Bub Sites (157), Joel Oyler (145) and Ryan Sites (127). Top Ambulance responders for 2011 were J.C. Hartman (103), Dan Shearer (74), Becky Yeager (43), Nathan Hawbaker (34) and Ron Yeager (24). Special awards went to Troy Wagaman, Hannah Taylor and Chuckie Miller for there efforts to revive a cardiac arrest patient that left the hospital after 9 days and returned home. Auto Accident
January 29th, 2012- Engine 5-1 and Ambulance 5-7 responded at 1723 to the Square in Mont Alto for the vehicle accident. Units arrived to find a hit and run accident and 1 patient. Engine 5-1 assisted EMS with patient packaging and debri clean-up. Duty 5 placed units in service.

House Fire
January 23rd, 2012- Company 5 was alerted at 0344 for the Smoke from the Apartment building at 144 West North Street in Waynesboro. Units from Waynesboro arrived with a working attic fire. Engine 5-2 arrived laying in from hydrant to the scene and assisted with fire suppression and extensive salvage and overhaul. Engine 5-1 staged and Company 5 was placed in service by Command 2 at 0558. Thanks to Company 18 for covering the 5 House.

Auto Accident
January 21st, 2012- Engine 5-1 and Ambulance 5-7, Squad 2 and Medic 202 were dispatched at 1024 for the auto accident Wayne Road and Manhiem Road. Units arrived finding 1 patient who was being attended to by EMS. Chief 5 placed Squad 2 and Medic 202 in service. Engine 5-1 assisted EMS and returned with no other services needed.
5-2 covers the Big House
January 17th, 2012- Company 5 was alerted to Transfer to Station 4 while they operated on the 3 alarm fire in Shippensburg. Engine 5-2 tranferred and no calls were handled.
Busy day for the 5 house
January 9th, 2012- Engine 5-2 started off heading to South Mountain for the Chimney fire at 3341 Day Hollow Road at 0738. The engine arrived and through ladders and started Chimney ops. Once cleaned Command 16 placed 5-2 in service. Next run of the day came at 1535 heading to Fayetteville to 813 Anthony Highway for the House. Engine 5-2 staged till placed in service by Command 7. The last call of the evening units went back to Fayettville for the AFA at 6274 Winterberry Drive. Units were canceled enroute.
Christmas Day Fatal House Fire
Decemeber 25, 2011 Around 0430 Tanker 5 was alerted to 1689 Path Valley Road to assist on the house fire. Tanker 5 made the voyage across town and arrived to dump 3000 gallons of water into the porta tank. After dumping Command 9 placed the Tanker in service.
