NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR EMT'S /DRIVERS CONTACT 749-3453 SHED FIRE IN SOUTH MOUNTAIN June 28 - Company 5 was alerted at 0213 to 10554 Dixon Road in South Mountain for a shed fire. Engine 5-1 and Engine Tanker 5 responded. 5's crew assisted with fire attack and salvage and overhaul. Company 5 cleared at 0423 with 6 personal.
GARAGE FIRE IN WAYNESBORO
June 7 - Engine 5-2 started to transfer, then alerted @ 0224 to 216 Park Street in Waynesboro for a shed fire. The crew assisted with suppression and S.& O. The engine cleared at 0504.

May 24 - Engine Tanker 5 participated in the 7th Annual Franklin County Make-A-Wish Foundation Truck Convoy. We were able to grant a wish for a young man who asked to ride a fire truck. The event started in Shippensburg @ Cressler Trucking, going through Chambersburg, Greencastle, Waynesboro and Mont Alto before returning to Shippensburg.

May 17 - Engine Tanker 5 was alerted at 2027 at 8178 Lincoln Way East to assist "7" with a dwelling fire. ET-5 crew assisted with fire attack and help with salvage and overhaul. Et-5 cleared at 2150
TRANSFER TO GETTYSBURG
May 2 -Engine 5-2 transferred to Adams County Co 1, while their members enjoyed their banquet. While in Gettysburg, the crew ran one medical assist and one motor vehicle accident.
PEDIATRIC FAIR HAS HUGE TURNOUT
April 25 - MAVFD assisted Mont Alto Campus of Penn State with their annual pediatric fair. Many children and their families attended the annual event, which included a visit by Life Lion aero medical helicopter and the Nittany Lion!
MARK GARLING NAMED FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR
January 31st - Veteran member Mark Garling was named Firefighter of the year for 2008 by Chief Dan Reed at the annual awards ceremony. The award was chosen by the fire chief, assistant fire chief and fire captain. Fire Chief's award went to Ron Yeager. Don Garling received the Deputy Fire Chief's award while the Assistant Fire Chief and President's award went to Jamie Reed. Appreciation Awards were given to Jeff Grove, John Tremper and Bryan Stevenson.
In recognition of 30 years of service in 2008, Deputy Ambulance Chief Lynn Hospelhorn recognized every volunteer who responded on at least one E.M.S. call in 2008.
Joy Peck received the Ladies Auxiliary President's award and Billie Jo Summers and Blanche Kintzel became life members of the auxiliary.
The following received Fire Department Service Awards: Staat Stymiest, Dennis Monn, Terry Kriner and Don Garling.
Top fire responders for 2008 were Ron Yeager (187), Dan Shearer (126), Joel Oyler (96), Darryl Nunemaker (93) and Shawn Adolini (63). Top fire police responders were Greg Peck, Frank Stine, James Erdenbrack, Peggy Green, Brian Edelman, Larry Carson, Jack Bowen, Elizabeth Reed and Oscar Reed.
Thanks to the annual transfer crews from Waynesboro and South Mountain for covering the night!
