LANDING ZONE
July 13th- At 1634, Company 5 was dispatched to set up a Landing zone for a helicopter at Mowrey School. Engine 5-1 and Chief 5 responded. Once LZ was set up and helicopter landed, then took off. Company 5 went in service at 1714 with 13 personnel.
BRUSH FIRE July 11th- At 1409, Company 5 was dispatched to Waynesboro Fish and Game club for a brush fire. Brush 5, Special Unit 5 and Ranger 5 responded. Once on scene the crew from 5 assisted with fire suppression and helped build a fire line. Once fire was undercontrol Command 2 place all company 5 units in service at 1757 with 14 personnel.
BUSY NIGHT July 5th- Company 5 was dispatched to 7970 LWE for a working house fire at 0120. Engines 5-1 and 5-2 responded. Once on scene Command 7 had 5's crews assist with fire suppression. Once fire was out and overhaul started Command 7 placed company 5 in service at 0442 with. 9 personnel. With in a few mintues of returning to the station Company 5 transfered to Chambersburg headquaters station 0451 and was released at 0656.
AUTO ACCIDENT July 2nd- At 600, Company 5 was dispatched to 5000 block of Manham for auto accident. Engine 5-1 responded. While in route, Company 5 was advised that a car was on its side. Once on scene "5" crew assisted ems with patient care and loading in ambulance. Once patient was loaded and in route to a hospital, Company 5 went in service at 0659 with 9 personnel.

AUTO ACCIDENT May 22nd - At 833, Company 5 was dispatched to 2814 Anthony Highway for auto accident. Engine 5-2 responded. While in route, Company 5 was advised that the auto was in the pond at Pond Bank. Once on scene units check around the car and the area for patients nothing was found. Company 5 went in service at 857 with 9 personnel.
HOUSE FIRE
May 17th - Company 5 was dispatched to 139 Coquina Sands Drive in Waynesboro at 2124. Engines 5-1 and 5-2 responded. Once on scene Command 2 had "5" crews assist with overhaul. Once overhaul was complete Command 2 placed company 5 in service at 2223 with. 7 personnel.
BUSY AFTERNOON
May 15th - While member were getting things ready for the tractor pull. Company 5 was dispatched for a auto accident at intersection of Tomstown Road and Creager Road. Engine 5-1 responded. Once on scene. "5" crew assisted with patient care with and check of hazards. Once scene was clear and all patients were in route to hospitals Company 5 went in service at 1426 with 7 personnel.
While the tractor pull was going on Company 5 was dispatched for a auto accident at 7364 Metzer Gap Road at 2204. Engine 43 and Engine 5-2 responded. Once on the scene, found a motorcycle on it side. Station 4 crew control hazards and "5" crew assisted with patient care. Once patient was loaded and transported to a hospital. Both engines went in service at 2239. Special thanks to Waynesboro and The Franklins Fire Departments for transferring while Company 5 held there tractor pull.
SMOKE IN A BUILDING
May 14th - Co 5 was dispatched to 125 Tritle Avenue in Waynesboro for smoke coming for a house at 1022. Engine 5-1 responded. Once on scene, command 2 had "5" crew go to the basement and pull the ceiling. Once that was done then Engine 5-1 was placed in service at 1133 with 4 personnel.
SMOKE IN A BUILDING
May 10th - Co 5 was dispatched to 104 North Potomac Street in Waynesboro for smoke in a Building at 2050. Engines 5-1 and 5-2 responded. Once on scene. Per command 2 "5" crew were to stage on there engines while they investigation the building. Once nothing was found Command 2 placed company 5 in service at 2123 with 9 personnel. HOUSE FIRE
May 8th -Co. 5 was dispatched to 101 State Hill Road in Waynesboro for a reported house fire at 1251 Engine 5-1 responded. Once on scene "5" crew secured the utilities and check the crawl space for extension. With no fire found in crawl space. Company 5 when went in service at 1328 with 8 personnel.
AUTO ACCIDENT
April 30th - Co. 5 was dispatched to 6 East Main Street for an Auto Accident at 2127. Engine 5-1 responded and, upon arrival, found two autos involved. Crew from "5" assisted with patient care while Squad 7 crew controlled hazards from both autos. Three ambulances were needed to transport all patients involved. Company 5 went in service with 10 personnel at 22:24.
C02 ALARM
April 23rd - Co. 5 was dispatched to 105 Poplar Street for a Co2 alarm at 1945. Engine 5-1 responded and, upon arrival, Co. 5 crew conducted an investigation and found a faulty detector. Co. 5 went in service with 10 personnel at 20:08. GAS LEAK
April 22nd - Co. 5 was dispatched to the intersection of Park and Willow Streets for a gas leak at 9:45. Engine 5-2 responded and staged until Columbia gas arrived. Once the line was checked, it was determined the line was inactive. Co. 5 went in service with 4 personnel at 10:36 OUTSIDE INVESTIGATION
April 15th -Co. 5 was dispatched to 8500 Tomstown Road for an outside investigation at 15:13. Engine 5-1 and Brush 5 responded. Once on scene, Co. 5 found a shed on fire. After the fire was put out, Co. 5 went in service with 9 personnel at 16:08
BOBBY WAGNER NAMED FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR
January 30th -Bobby Wagner was named Firefighter of the Year for 2009 by Chief Dan Reed at the annual awards ceremony. The award was chosen by the fire chief, assistant fire chief and fire captain. Fire Chief's award went to The Garling family. Dan Shearer received the Deputy Fire Chief's award while the Assistant Fire Chief and President's awards went to Chad Miller. Vice President's award went to Charlie Baker. Junior member of the year went to Liz Blessing.
Top fire responders for 2009 were Ron Yeager (180), Dan Shearer (169), J.C. Hartman (141), Joel Oyler (120), and Bobby Wagner (114)
Ambulance Chief Amy Reed presented EMT of the year to Joel Oyler. Brent Black received the Ambulance Chief's award. Jeff Grove received the Ambulance Chief's Appreciation Award
Lowe's in Waynesboro received the business award.
